Prof. Dr. H. Nusret YÜKSELER

Mr. Yükseler was born in Kilis on Nov.01, 1931 and has grown up in Bursa,
his home town, Turkey. He carried out practical works at AEG-Union in
Vienna-Austria in 1954 and graduated from Electrical Faculty, Technical
University of Istanbul in 1955 with M.S.E.E. degree and since then he was
with the same Faculty as a member of academic staff until his retirement
in November 1998. He visited Cornell University (Ithaca N.Y., USA) in
1959-1960. He was charged with arrangement of the Power Network Analyzer
Laboratory in 1961-1962. He has served his military term as reserve
officer with Military College in Ankara in 1962-1964 and taught courses
in his major fields and also was charged as interpreter. He obtained his
Ph. D. degree in 1972. He was full professor in charge of the Direct
Energy Conversion, Generation, Transmission and Distribution courses and
was Head of the Electric Power Systems Branch, E-E Faculty, ITU before
his retirement. He also taught courses in the fields: Electromagnetic
Theory, Electrical Measurements, High Voltage Technology, and Engineering
Mathematics and he advised many undergraduate and graduate students. His
recent researches have covered the areas of Multi-Phase Systems, Voltage
Stability, and Capability Charts. He has attended meetings in America,
Africa, Asia, Australia, and Europe's many countries, presenting papers,
chairing sessions, and as a member of scientific committees. He was also
president, co-president in many national and international conferences.
He has published more than 100 scientific papers in the fields of
Electrical Engineering. Mr. Yükseler is a member of "IEEE-PES", CIGRE,
"World Energy Conference (WEC)-Turkish National Committee", "Chamber of
the Electrical Engineers (Turkey)", and he has been awarded the IEEE PES'
"Outstanding Engineer-1994" Award and the IEEE "Third Millenium Medal".
He has also received 22 honour plaques in Turkey and USA. He is founder
and first chairman of the IEEE PES Turkey Chapter, founder of the IEEE
PES Student Chapter in Turkey "IEEE PES Student Branch Chapter at
Istanbul Technical University", and has chaired "The Regional Working
Group For The Cooperation In The Field of Energy Among The Black Sea
Region And Central Asian Countries" (REWG)-Group II, "Connection of
Energy Networks, Trade and Exchange", V.Chaired the WEC-TNC Senior
Advisory Committee. Prof. Yukseler continues to give courses in "Energy
Conversion" fields with ITU Energy Institute and Chairs the foundation of
"The Institute of Electrical Energy Quality". Prof. Dr. H. Nusret Yükseler
is official representative of CIGRE (International Council of Large
Electric Systems).
